So I have spent hours over the last 2 days trying to create a Signature for the emails I send out that would include hyperlinks and an image (my logo). I learned a few important things along the way and thought I’d share so my readers might not have to spend as much time as I did figuring it out
especially any that use Mozilla Thunderbird as a mail client (and those that don’t it is very user friendly and a one stop place for all your email accounts).
The first thing I discovered was that I could not use a Word Doc as my attachment for my signature, not even saved as an .rtf (can’t use a PDF either). To get an image included you need to use a .HTM (or html) and use a code to tell it to include it. Now I’m not an expert by any means so it took me a little bit to get it just right (especially sizing my image which I will still tweak a bit) even after my much more technology savvy husband found a great resource for me at http://www.freeemailtutorials.com/mozillaThunderbird/emailSignature.cwd, if you use Outlook there are also tutorials on there for that. I found I had to modify the code they used to make it work but it was a good starting point. This is the coding I ended up using that worked for me :

Click on my link and when you get there right click and Save As to use as your own template. I use Notepad or Wordpad to edit in code. When you are done save it as an .htm . You will need to either have the image saved to your hard drive and type in the exact location it is located or upload the image to your website and use the different piece of code for that on the tutorial site I linked to. I can not guarantee the code will work for you as is, you may need to change the code a little bit especially the last part that tells your email to include the image if you don’t use Thunderbird.
Hopefully this saves somebody having to send themselves as many emails as I did to see if it works right
